34. VINTAGE BUFF WOODEN TRANSIT TRIPOD STAND WithBRASS ADJUSTMENTS, GOOD CONDITION

  

This is a nice Buff wooden tripod transit stand made in the early 1900s. Has brass butterfly nuts to adjust each leg in whatever direction over the land and has metal pegs on the bottom of each leg with points to stick in the ground, or to secure to wherever its affixed. There are scratches here and there on the wood from use but the stain on the wood is in good condition. The leather strap on bottom of one leg is used to keep all legs together when stored but is worn and dried out. The stand top has a twist-on piece to place a transit and keep it fixed to the tripod.

It measures 58" tall, each leg measures 2 1/4" wide and each leg measures 1 5/8 deep. Partner bought from his friend in NJ the 1980s. A nice find for a collector of surveying equipment.
