A stunning and imposing Antique Large Format Tripod / Stand. Fashioned from wonderful cast grey metal and solid Ash sliding / extending legs.

This tripod has the'Industrial Chic' look in spades and today would make an exceptional design feature for the home, studio or office - perhaps adapted into a light or industrial lamp stand.... Or simply to display in it's own right, as is. This is a large piece - 118.5 cms long when folded up.

The height will extend by approx 67cms with the legs extended. Really interesting design features throughout. I particularly like the cast spindles to each leg, which each tighten or slacken a clamp on the inner adjustable legs.

Maker unknown but beautifully marked'1713' and'1718' as shown. In good overall condition for age. One fault in that tip to one of the ash wood legs has suffered from a little (old inactive) worm damage, meaning it's a little soft and weakened (please see last photo). However, the tip of the leg is not so crucial as the metal clawed tip of the inner extension leg can be lengthened to take load.
