The fifties was all about rocket ships and the space age. Rockets started as a horrifying development during WWII as V2 rockets rained down on London and England from Germany. The V2, despite its origins, became the prototype for rocket ships that were planned to carry men into space, to the moon and perhaps to mars!

Confidence in progress was supreme! After all, rockets appeared over the course of the war, jet planes did too - if this technological progress could emerge in five short years - what might happen in ten or twenty! By 1990 man will be all over the solar system with rockets, space stations and colonies!

At least that was the plan. Here is a lamp that captures that enthusiasm for rocketry! A handcrafted design that, despite its makers lack of experience, perhaps captures the entire essence of the space age better than professional designs.

It's pure and its rough welded edges and homegrown style are now a mute testimony to the excitement and love the space age engendered in the masses. Lamp is in fine condition. Has a new socket and plug. Weld spots visible and has the general imperfections of a handcrafted design.
