Vintage Watts London Wooden Surveying Tripod / Theodolite Stand (Hilger Watts)

Listing is for a vintage wooden surveying tripod made by Watts of London (Hilger Watts). This tripod can extend vertically from around 36 to 56 inches. The tripod is fully functional and could be used as is right now.

We have not cleaned this tripod so it has some surface dust / dirt from years of use & storage. The tripod is in quite good condition considering its age. The metal components are all in good shape with no cracks or damage. There is some minor surface wear and scratches, but overall the paint is in pretty good shape.

The top of the tripod has a male threaded adapter which would fit to a theodolite. The adapter is held in place by a screw which, from underneath, can be loosened and re-centered on the platform. We're not sure if the top parts are original to the tripod or not. The wooden legs are also in pretty good shape however they have some wear, scuffs, and scratches. This is especially noticeable on the sides where the parts rub when extending or collapsing the unit.

One set of legs has some small screws in both sides, we're assuming someone added them to the unit at some point. This means there are some small holes in those 5 spots which have damaged the legs a tiny bit. The feet are in good shape but they do have some wear and minor surface tarnishing.

We think they would clean up nice and the paint is in pretty good shape. The tripod is marked W Watts London in the metal on the top of one leg, this can be clearly seen in the pictures provided. There's also a very small black stamp on the inside base of a leg that says H.
