There is a light shield and good optics. There is age related patina and a slight dent to rim of eyepiece. The wooden and brass tripod is marked Houghtons 1915 and has the rare addition of a wooden block to hold the shape of the clamp along with two telescope leather holders fixed to tripod with a rare canvas strap. Tripod is in good condition for its age. There are are metal spikes to end of tripod for stability.
